2016 PFA Career Achievement Award Winner - Sarah Cantwell (Phi Sigma Pi) Presented by PFA President Suzanne Schaffer (right)
Sarah Cantwell is the Director of Major Gifts for the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and United States Olympic and Paralympic Foundation (USOPF). For her entire career, she has worked to grow and develop non-profit organizations in a variety of ways – coupling resource development and expanded programming with the fiscal responsibility necessitated by non-profit work.
Phi Sigma Pi is not dedicated to one specific discipline, like many member-organizations of the PFA; however, we prize leadership in all professional fields. Sarah more than exemplifies leadership in the field of fundraising and donor development and outreach, and as such, we are fortunate to have Sarah serve on our National Council (Board of Directors). She initially served for four years as our Vice President of Alumni Development, from 2010-2014. Since then, she has served as our Vice President of Finance. In those roles, she has continually leveraged her professional fundraising and strategic development skills for the benefit of Phi Sigma Pi and Phi Sigma Pi Foundation, helping to guide our organizations’ collective efforts to engage our Alumni donors effectively and develop a strong fundraising strategy. Always one to lead by example,Sarah annually ranks among the top donors for our organizations.
Sarah’s commitment to service only begins with Phi Sigma Pi; she also serves as the President of the Michigan State University Alumni Club of Metro Chicago (a non-profit corporation) and as a member of the Michigan State University Alumni Association’s International Board, responsible for overseeing one of the largest university alumni communities in the country. In short, Sarah’s commitment to improving the world through social service and by employing her professional skills for the benefit of others makes her an ideal candidate for the Career Achievement Award. Sarah is an effective leader, a dedicated scholar, and a dear friend. I hope you will consider recognizing her selfless commitment to improving the lives of everyone she meets by awarding her the Career Achievement Award.
