The Samaritan House was established to create a supportive community providing housing and resources for positive change in the lives of persons living with HIV/AIDS and other special needs.
Ultimately, our goal was to impact the lives of the Samaritan House residents in a positive manner by sharing healthy living practices. We were able to successfully accomplish this goal through our education series. We provided an educational series for residents which included information regarding medication adherence, healthy living practices, and a mini health fair.
Medication wallet cards and goodie bags containing pill organizers, pens, paper, hand sanitizer, and lip balm were given to all participants. Given the unwarranted stigma that is associated with this patient population which sometimes prevents them from seeking assistance, we were excited that more than 32 community residents were served.
